When considering immigration, big cities offer various advantages, but the choice may vary depending on personal preferences and circumstances. Here are some advantages that certain major cities may offer:

  • Toronto
Being the economic center of Canada, Toronto offers various business and job-seeking opportunities. They have an immensely large Korean community with an excellent educational environment and well-developed public transportation.

  • Vancouver
Known for it’s beautiful natural scenery and mild climate, Vancouver boasts an active Korean community with well-developed and widely accessible public transportation. The large city provides various industry and business opportunities for new immigrants and citizens alike.

  • Montreal
A city where French and English speakers coexist, Montreal offers a European-style culture with various business opportunities. With the infamous McGill University, this city boasts an amazing educational environment with a heightened Korean community presence.

  • Calgary
Being the centre of Canada’s oil and gas industry, the constantly economically developing and growing city offers many business opportunities, especially in the energy and engineering sectors. With a well-developed Public transportation, Calgary has a Korean community that holds a yearly Korean Festival as well.

Immigrating to a big city offers well-established business opportunities with a vast among of living infrastructures. Unfortunately, trying to navigate through the complex provincial immigration programs may be challenging, potentially causing difficulties in obtaining permanent residency. However, there are numerous paths to obtain permanent residency with lower qualification requirements that aren’t just limited to provincial immigration programs. We advise that consulting with an expert for a detailed and professional opinion on your immigration qualifications may be extremely beneficial.

In order to legally work in Canada, you generally require a work permit.
Commonly if you wish to obtain a work permit, an employer must submit a job offer and a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to Service Canada. Once they obtain a successful and approved LMIA, you are eligible to apply for a work permit.
There are exceptions to this and one may be eligible to apply for a work permit that is exempted from having a valid job offer.

Express Entry is often considered to be a major economic immigration program that strives to target applicants working/with experience in in-demand occupations. This stream includes the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Applicants are generally asked to enter information about their age, education, work experience, language skills (English or French), and assets into the Express Entry ‘pool’. Applicants are then assessed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on the truthful and accurate information that has been provided.
